Encryption and your key
Your diary data is encrypted with SQLCipher (AES-256) and stored on your device. You can view, copy, or change the encryption key in Database Encryption Key in the app's settings. Read the Privacy Policy for complete information about data handling and permissions.
- Changing the key re-encrypts the database. Backups created earlier still need the old key to be decrypted, so save the old key before you change it.
App Lock and privacy screen
With App Lock turned on, opening AIDiary requires system verification such as fingerprint, face, or passcode. When the app moves to the background, a privacy screen automatically hides your content.
- App Lock relies on system verification, so set up a screen lock or biometrics on your device first.
- Keep backups and exported files secure, and review them for private content before sharing.
Manage system permissions
Receiving reminders or recording a location may require system permissions. You can review and change them in your device settings at any time.
- If Daily Reminder or Birthday Reminder notifications don't arrive, first make sure the reminder is turned on in the app, then check that AIDiary is allowed to send notifications.
- If location is unavailable, check that device location services and the app's location permission are enabled.
